Large parts of Uttar Pradesh are experiencing prolonged power cuts during intense heatwave conditions. Residents in Maharajganj, Mirzapur, and Basti districts are facing disruptions in daily life, agriculture, and business. In Maharajganj, residents are frustrated by worsening outages lasting up to 13 to 14 hours a day, affecting children and farmers.
Residents in Maharajganj criticized the administration for its inadequate response to the power crisis. They expressed concerns over the lack of intervention from local representatives and warned of potential public unrest if the issue persists. Maharajganj MLA Rishi Tripathi attributed the power faults to the intense heat, leading to interruptions in power supply.
In Mirzapur, residents are also enduring prolonged power outages, with electricity available for only a few hours a day. Similarly, in Basti district, erratic power supply is causing difficulties, especially during the night. Officials in Basti mentioned a shortage of staff as a contributing factor to the disruptions.
The widespread power cuts have exacerbated the challenges posed by the heatwave, prompting residents to urge the government to take immediate action to stabilize the power supply. As temperatures remain high across the state, residents are demanding urgent intervention to address the situation.
