The VCK party, led by Thol. Thirumavalavan, has decided to independently contest in three Assembly constituencies in Puducherry due to delays in finalizing seat-sharing agreements within the DMK-led alliance. Despite ongoing negotiations in Tamil Nadu, the uncertainty in Puducherry has prompted the VCK to take this independent stance in select constituencies. Thirumavalavan mentioned that the party initially sought three seats in the union territory as part of the alliance but faced reluctance from the Congress party, leading to prolonged discussions and confusion among party members.
The VCK will field its candidates independently in the Usudu, Nettapakkam, and Ozhukarai constituencies to strengthen its grassroots presence and emphasize the importance of timely and transparent alliance decisions. While asserting its position in these segments, the party will continue to support the secular alliance in other constituencies where it is not contesting. Thirumavalavan highlighted that the delay in seat allocation has caused unnecessary anxiety among party members, with no clarity on which constituency the VCK would be allotted by the DMK.
The decision of the VCK to go solo in three constituencies reflects the strain within alliance negotiations in Puducherry as the election process intensifies. This move could impact last-minute seat-sharing discussions as parties rush to finalize their strategies before the polls.
