The death toll from the June 24 earthquakes in Venezuela has tragically climbed to 5,069, with 16,740 individuals reported injured and 6,462 rescued, as per National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez. Temporary camps in Caracas and the states of La Guaira, Miranda, and Aragua are currently accommodating 21,235 people affected by the natural disaster. Authorities have documented 1,331 aftershocks following the initial 7.2- and 7.5-magnitude quakes.
In response to the crisis, 94 temporary camps have been established, with La Guaira hosting 10,981 individuals, Caracas sheltering 6,133, and Miranda housing 1,323 quake victims. Acting President Delcy Rodriguez expressed gratitude for the international humanitarian aid received from 28 countries, emphasizing the importance of global support in aiding the affected population. She highlighted the collaborative efforts to distribute over 2,000 tons of aid to those residing in temporary shelters.
Acknowledging the solidarity shown by the international community, Rodriguez stressed the significance of collective efforts in rebuilding and restoring the impacted regions. The outpouring of assistance has provided hope and reassurance to Venezuela, demonstrating unity and shared commitment towards recovery and reconstruction post-disaster.
