Veteran actor Tiku Talsania shared on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ how he landed his first TV role in ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’, marking his entry into the entertainment industry. During a theatre performance, director Kundan Shah spotted him and offered a small role in the show, which Talsania accepted eagerly. His iconic line “Ye kya ho rha hain” from the show became his trademark.
The sitcom, which aired in 1984 on DD National, centered around a happy couple, Ranjit and Renu Verma, and Renu’s brother Raja. The main cast included Shafi Inamdar, Swaroop Sampat, Rakesh Bedi, Satish Shah, and Sulbha Arya. Tiku Talsania portrayed Raghuwan Kailash Gupta, Ranjit’s boss and later Raja’s father-in-law in the series.
Following his stint in ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’, Tiku Talsania appeared in several popular TV shows of the 80s and 90s like ‘Fikr Ne Kaha’, ‘Yeh Duniyan Gazab Ki’, ‘Zamana Badal Gaya’, and ‘Ek Se Badkar Ek’. In Bollywood, he debuted in ‘Pyaar Ke Do Pal’ in 1986 and went on to feature in movies like ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin’, ‘Umar 55 Ki Dil Bachpan Ka’, ‘Bol Radha Bol’, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, and ‘Mr. Bechara’.
