Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Vice Chairman of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), spearheaded the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation campaign at Gandhi Sadan in the NDMC Housing Complex, Mandir Marg. This initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, urges citizens to plant trees in honor of their mothers and ensure their nurturing.
Chahal highlighted that the campaign is being executed with a mission-oriented approach to enhance the green cover in the NDMC area. The drive has been actively conducted in embassies, universities, colleges, schools, and commercial and residential areas, with the involvement of various associations.
With the goal of aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047,’ the campaign aims to cover every nook and corner of the NDMC area for a cleaner and greener urban environment. Public participation plays a crucial role in the success of this endeavor, emphasized Chahal.
Encouraging citizens, institutions, and organizations to actively engage in the green movement, Chahal stressed the importance of collective efforts in enhancing New Delhi’s cleanliness, greenery, and environmental consciousness. The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation series continues weekly, focusing on expanding the city’s green cover through strategic planning and community involvement.
