Vietnam’s National Assembly (NA) Chairman, Tran Thanh Man, highlighted the importance of Vietnam’s relationship with India, describing India as a loyal and trusted friend with deep historical and cultural connections. This sentiment was expressed during a meeting with India’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa in Hanoi.
Tran Thanh Man commended Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa for his efforts in strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in facilitating Vietnam President To Lam’s recent State visit to India. He extended greetings to Vice President CP Radhakrishnan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, expressing a desire to host Indian parliamentary leaders in Vietnam soon.
Expressing satisfaction with the significant progress in India-Vietnam relations, Tran Thanh Man emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in defense, security, education, healthcare, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The Vietnamese National Assembly aims to collaborate closely with India’s legislature to implement agreements and mutual understandings between the leaders of both countries.
Tshering Wangchuk Sherpa presented an invitation from Om Birla to Tran Thanh Man, inviting him to visit India at a convenient time. He underscored the strong connections between Vietnam’s National Assembly and India’s Parliament, reflecting profound people-to-people bonds.
India and Vietnam enjoy a close and cordial relationship, characterized as an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (ECSP). The elevation of ties to ECSP occurred during President To Lam’s State visit to India in May.
