The Vigilance Investigation Bureau in Bihar has made a significant arrest in Purnea district, catching a revenue employee red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The operation, triggered by a complaint verification, has caused a stir in administrative circles. Rupak Kumar, the accused revenue employee at the K. Hat Circle Office, was reported to have demanded money for official land-related tasks.

Officials confirmed that the complainant reported the bribe demand, leading to a thorough investigation by the Vigilance Bureau. Following a preliminary inquiry and confirmation of the complaint’s authenticity, a trap was set to apprehend the accused. The revenue employee was caught in the act of accepting the bribe as part of processing administrative work.

After the arrest, the accused was taken into custody for interrogation by vigilance authorities. Legal proceedings have commenced with a case registered at the Vigilance Police Station. Investigators are exploring the involvement of any other government personnel in the case, with the possibility of expanding the inquiry based on emerging evidence.

The Department of Revenue and Land Reforms has been plagued by complaints of corruption, especially in land-related services. The recent action in Purnea is seen as a step towards combating corruption in public offices, particularly in matters like land mutation and revenue-related services.
