Actor-politician Vijay has organized a crucial gathering of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidates at the party’s Panaiyur headquarters near Chennai as Tamil Nadu anticipates the outcome of the recent Assembly elections. The 2026 Tamil Nadu polls featured a unique four-way battle, with the DMK-led alliance, AIADMK-led bloc, and other regional players facing a strong challenge from TVK, marking its electoral debut this year.
Except for the Edappadi constituency, where its nomination was rejected, TVK contested in 233 out of the 234 Assembly constituencies statewide. In readiness for the vote count, Vijay had earlier instructed all candidates to convene in Chennai and attend the meeting in person without fail. He emphasized the importance of bringing Form 17C, the official polling day record, to verify votes and ensure transparency during the counting process.
Addressing the candidates, Vijay expressed optimism about the party’s performance in the elections, asserting confidence in securing a decisive victory. He urged candidates to stay vigilant, disciplined, and united in the upcoming days, with a clear directive for potential winners to head straight to the Panaiyur office after the results are announced.
Vijay cautioned candidates against potential efforts by rival parties to entice them post-results, advising them not to switch allegiances even if approached with offers. He praised the candidates for their campaign efforts and stressed the need for vigilance on counting day to safeguard each vote and ensure a smooth counting process, highlighting the significance of maintaining party unity during the critical phase.
The meeting is viewed as a strategic move by TVK to strengthen its position amidst stiff political competition and prevent defections post-election, as Tamil Nadu braces for a closely contested electoral outcome.
