Actor-politician C. Joseph Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has emerged as the largest party in Tamil Nadu’s Assembly elections, winning 108 seats. As no party reached the required majority of 118 seats in the 234-member Assembly, the state faces political uncertainty and negotiations. TVK, with its strong electoral showing, has asked Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar for a chance to prove its majority within two weeks.
Speculation arises on potential alliances as TVK falls 10 seats short of a majority. The focus now shifts to which parties or independents might support Vijay’s party to establish a stable government. Congress Tamil Nadu in-charge Girish Chodankar sees the election outcome as a call for change, especially noting the significant support from young voters and women for TVK.
Chodankar has submitted a detailed report on the election to senior Congress leaders, indicating that the party’s next steps in Tamil Nadu will be a collective decision. He also mentions that Congress leaders are willing to offer support if necessary, emphasizing not to underestimate TVK. With attention on the Governor’s actions and evolving political alliances, the formation of Tamil Nadu’s next government hangs in the balance.
