Veteran actress Waheeda Rehman reminisced about an incident on the set of ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’ where co-star Sunil Dutt, deeply engrossed in his dacoit role, startled everyone by his intense demeanor even off-camera. Rehman shared her experience during an episode of “Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai,” highlighting Dutt’s commitment to his character. She mentioned how Dutt, playing Thakur Jarnail Singh, maintained his serious persona throughout the shoot, never breaking character.
Rehman humorously narrated an episode where she complained to Nargis about Dutt’s stern behavior, likening him to Hitler for his strictness. During a shoot, Dutt abruptly interrupted a casual moment among the actresses, instructing them to get up without much explanation, leaving them puzzled. Later, Dutt returned with a BSF commander, signaling an unexpected turn of events that led the actresses to be escorted into jeeps surrounded by armed guards.
Waheeda Rehman and Sunil Dutt, who have collaborated in various films like “Ek Phool Char Kante” and “Zindagi Zindagi,” shared a professional bond beyond the screen, with Rehman fondly recalling their time together on and off the sets. The duo’s association spanned multiple projects, showcasing their on-screen chemistry and mutual respect for each other’s craft. Sunil Dutt, known for his versatile acting and political career, passed away in 2005 due to a heart attack at his Mumbai residence.
