West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, has decided to expedite the initiation of the unemployment allowance payment under the ‘Banglaar Yava Sathi’ scheme. Originally set to begin on August 15, the payments will now commence from April this year.
The scheme, aimed at youths aged 21 to 40 who have cleared their secondary examinations, will provide beneficiaries with a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500. The Chief Minister emphasized that the payment will extend for five years per recipient, with a potential review for continued support for those still unemployed after this period.
To facilitate applications for the scheme, camps will be conducted in all 294 Assembly constituencies throughout February. Interested individuals are encouraged to participate in these camps to avail themselves of the benefits. A detailed advertisement will be released to inform the public about the camp dates, with payments scheduled to start on April 1 after the application review process.
