After the change of government in West Bengal, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has mandated the provision of carbon copies of OMR sheets to candidates who took tests, aiming to enhance transparency in the recruitment process. Adhikari announced this initiative at a job fair in Sealdah, central Kolkata, emphasizing the importance of providing carbon copies to all candidates to combat nepotism and corruption.
Addressing the audience at the job fair, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the tarnished reputation of West Bengal due to alleged recruitment corruption under the previous government. He revealed plans to introduce a new recruitment policy under the current administration, which may be presented in the upcoming Budget Session in the state Assembly.
Emphasizing the government’s commitment to fair recruitment practices, Adhikari stated that no additional marks would be awarded in written exams, academic scores, or oral exams to ensure transparency. He highlighted the need to establish minimum marks for the oral exam to prevent nepotism and ensure merit-based selections, citing past instances of irregularities in recruitment processes.
Alleging violations of constitutional norms in recruitment exams during the previous government’s tenure, Adhikari underscored the government’s objective of conducting a corruption-free recruitment process. The Chief Minister vowed to uphold transparency and integrity in employment opportunities, aiming to rectify the recruitment system’s shortcomings and restore public trust.
