During an event commemorating Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay’s 189th birth anniversary, Adhikari reiterated West Bengal’s stance against anti-national elements, citing historical figures like Chaitanya Dev, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee as inspirations for the state’s direction.
The Chief Minister affirmed that West Bengal would take decisive action against illegal infiltrators, emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy towards anti-national activities. Adhikari also highlighted the state’s commitment to safeguarding against activities that undermine national integrity, referencing recent electoral outcomes as a testament to the people’s rejection of such elements.
Furthermore, Adhikari assured that refugees facing religious persecution would be granted citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act, underscoring the state’s humanitarian approach. The upcoming legislative agenda includes the introduction of Bills addressing the Uniform Civil Code and measures to counter anti-social activities, marking a significant step towards legal reforms in West Bengal.
