A woman, Shimjitha Mustafa, was arrested in Kozhikode, Kerala, for sharing a video accusing a man of sexual harassment on a bus. The man, U. Deepak, allegedly committed suicide after the video circulated on social media.
Shimjitha, who posted the video without filing a formal complaint, sought anticipatory bail but was arrested for abetment to suicide. Police initiated action following complaints from Deepak’s parents, leading to a case against Shimjitha.
Investigations include examining CCTV footage from the bus where the incident supposedly occurred. Statements from bus staff and passengers are being recorded to ascertain the events leading to Deepak’s tragic death.
