Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/HNEW, revealed that the accused ran an organized drug network sourcing contraband through absconding suppliers and Dark Web platforms. Payments were made through cryptocurrency wallets to mask financial trails, with drugs transported via courier services and local delivery through trusted sub-peddlers.
Ummidi Immanuel, an event manager, was identified as the main culprit, transitioning from a drug consumer to a local peddler involved in various criminal cases. Susmitha Devi, a software employee and Immanuel’s partner, assisted in managing online transactions and receiving drug proceeds. Devi continued operations in Immanuel’s absence, selling drugs across Hyderabad through a transporter and sub-peddler.
Talabattula Taraka Laxmikanth Ayyappa, a private employee, was arrested for drug consumption. The case highlights the concerning trend of educated youth falling into drug abuse, leading some to become peddlers. The rise in substance addiction among young individuals poses significant risks to both individuals and society at large, according to the police.
