The Bihar Legislative Council discussed the transfer of women teachers to their home districts during the Budget Session. Education Minister Sunil Kumar was interrupted by former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, who highlighted the challenges faced by women teachers working away from their families. Rabri Devi suggested transferring women teachers back to their home districts for their convenience due to family responsibilities and commuting difficulties.
On a positive note, Education Minister Sunil Kumar acknowledged Rabri Devi’s suggestion and assured that the department would consider it. The issue of teacher transfers was previously addressed in the Assembly, where the Education Minister explained the provision for mutual transfers among teachers from the same school. During the ninth day of the Budget Session, concerns over crime and law enforcement were also raised by the opposition in both Houses.
Rabri Devi, earlier in the day, called for the resignation of Home Minister Samrat Choudhary following a disturbing incident at a coaching center in Patna. She criticized the government for failing to ensure the safety of Bihar’s daughters under the current administration.
