The 12th International Day of Yoga in 2026 was joyously observed by the Ministry of Coal and the Ministry of Mines, showcasing the government’s dedication to promoting overall health, mental wellness, and a healthy lifestyle among its employees. Dr. Veena Kumar Dermal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, highlighted the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life to combat the sedentary nature of office work.
Dr. Dermal stressed the benefits of yoga in improving posture, reducing stress, enhancing focus, and boosting overall health, especially for individuals engaged in prolonged sitting. She encouraged staff to allocate a few minutes each day to yoga for a more balanced and healthier lifestyle, considering its positive impact on physical and mental well-being.
