Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed state officials to upgrade railway security in the state, emphasizing the need for a modern and technology-driven system. He highlighted the importance of ensuring passenger safety, upholding women’s dignity, controlling crime, and providing swift police assistance throughout the extensive railway network. Adityanath emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards crime and anti-social activities, stressing the importance of firm enforcement.

Reviewing the Government Railway Police’s operations, the Chief Minister called for stringent measures to regulate entry and exit points, manage queues, make public announcements, and maintain round-the-clock CCTV surveillance. He underscored the priority of women’s safety and the creation of secure environments across the railway network. Adityanath also urged officials to intensify anti-trafficking efforts, citing the success of initiatives like ‘Operation Muskaan’ in rescuing children and reuniting them with their families.

Adityanath advocated for the increased use of modern technology to bolster security at railway premises, platforms, and trains. He emphasized the necessity of enhanced coordination between the Railway administration, Railway Protection Force, and local police to ensure seamless passenger protection. The Chief Minister was briefed on existing surveillance measures such as drone monitoring, CCTV coverage, digital verification, informer networks, and inspection apps being utilized to secure railway tracks and stations.

To address incidents like stone pelting, Adityanath called for special campaigns and highlighted the positive impact of public awareness drives and counseling initiatives. He stressed the importance of crowd management, particularly during festivals, major events, recruitment examinations, and special occasions, to minimize passenger inconvenience. Adityanath also emphasized the need for prompt and effective prosecution to ensure swift justice for criminals.

Assuring support for manpower and equipment to enhance and modernize the Government Railway Police, Adityanath expressed readiness to collaborate with the Ministry of Railways and Railway Board for additional resources. Looking ahead, he instructed immediate preparations for the Haridwar Ardh Kumbh in 2027, emphasizing the development of a comprehensive plan for railway security and crowd management well in advance.
