Young Doctors Association (YDA) President Dr. Hai Baloch has expressed disappointment with the Pakistani government’s response to the medical community’s demands. Dr. Baloch announced a protest rally scheduled for June 12 during a press conference at a protest camp outside Civil Sandeman Hospital in Quetta.
He condemned the acid attack on Dr. Mah Noor Naseer, labeling it an assault on tribal society’s values. Dr. Baloch highlighted the government’s failure to address their concerns, leading to the decision to organize a rally from Sheikh Zayed Hospital to the Quetta Press Club on June 12.
Dr. Baloch urged the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the incident at Civil Hospital Quetta and demanded enhanced security for doctors and hospitals. The YDA declared a boycott of outpatient departments (OPDs) and other services in government hospitals across Balochistan as part of their protest, except for gynaecology wards, trauma centers, and emergency units.
The Human Rights Council (HRC) of Pakistan strongly denounced the acid attack on a female doctor at Sandeman Civil Hospital in Quetta on June 6. The HRC emphasized the need for the government and law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of medical staff, particularly female doctors, in sensitive locations like hospitals.
