A young man in Raichur, Karnataka, was reportedly assaulted after being accused of harassing a woman at a private hospital. The incident, captured in a viral video, occurred on Tuesday and has garnered significant attention on social media.
The victim, identified as Mehboob, was allegedly confined and assaulted by the woman’s family members inside a house in Raichur city. He was taken from his residence and locked in a room where the assault took place in the IDS&T Layout area.
The altercation stemmed from accusations that Mehboob had harassed the woman at the hospital. Subsequently, the woman’s family members confronted him and brought him to their residence. In the viral video, the woman’s sister is seen confronting Mehboob about his actions at the hospital, while he is shown pleading for forgiveness amidst the assault.
The video, which has sparked discussions on social media, depicts the relentless assault despite Mehboob’s apologies. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the matter, with a case registered at the Sadar Bazar police station in Raichur.
In a similar incident last year on August 11, 2025, a 25-year-old man named Vithal Naikar was beaten by villagers in a separate harassment case. Naikar was tied to a tree and beaten by villagers, including the woman’s relatives, who alleged he had been teasing and stalking her. Despite attempts to counsel him, the situation escalated, leading to the public beating in Godchi village.
