The death of a young woman at a homestay near Muddenahalli in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur district has sparked controversy as her family alleges it may be linked to “love jihad.” The family accuses her boyfriend, Sanjeet Ali, of murdering her after years of alleged harassment. The police are still investigating whether the case involves murder, suicide, or poisoning.
The deceased woman’s mother, T.R. Geetha, claimed that Sanjeet Ali, a native of Kerala, had manipulated her daughter, making her addicted to drugs and harassing her in the name of love. Geetha stated that her daughter, Sai Surabhi, met Sanjeet Ali while studying at Dayananda Sagar College through mutual friends. Despite her efforts to seek help from the police, the situation escalated, leading to tragic consequences.
Surabhi, who worked as a physiotherapist in Muddenahalli, had informed her family that she would be attending a satsang program but was later found dead under mysterious circumstances at a homestay. The police discovered her body alongside an unconscious Sanjeet Ali, who has been hospitalized. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death and the circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
Chikkaballapur Superintendent of Police Kushal Chowksi mentioned that all possible angles are being explored, emphasizing the need for further forensic analysis to ascertain the cause of death. The police are considering various scenarios, including murder, suicide, or poisoning, and are awaiting the post-mortem report and Sanjeet Ali’s statement for more clarity on the case.
