Police arrested YSR Congress Party General Secretary (Media Wing) Pudi Srihari for allegedly posting on social media against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. Srihari, who previously served as the Chief Public Relations Officer under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure as Chief Minister, was taken into custody at his residence in Vijayawada on Wednesday morning. Authorities confiscated his mobile phone and laptop during the arrest.

Condemning the arrest as unjust, YSRCP leader and former Minister Ambati Rambabu criticized the actions of Chittoor 2 Town Circle Inspector Netti Kantayya for forcefully moving Srihari to Kuppam police station. Responding to the arrest, YSRCP’s legal cell criticized the enforcement of what they referred to as the “Red Book Constitution” in the state, linking it to TDP leader Nara Lokesh’s 2024 election campaign.

The YSRCP expressed dissatisfaction with the police’s behavior, accusing them of disregarding democracy by making unlawful arrests despite warnings from the High Court. The party’s legal cell announced plans to take legal action against Circle Inspector Netti Kantayya and has requested the High Court’s intervention. Meanwhile, Tirupati MP Dr. M. Gurumoorthy strongly denounced Srihari’s arrest as “illegal,” alleging that the police seized his electronic devices without proper authorization.
