Zimbabwe Cricket has revealed a groundbreaking five-match T20I series against the South Africa women’s team set for September. This series will mark the first-ever bilateral women’s cricket series between the two nations on Zimbabwean soil. The matches are scheduled to be held at the Queen Sports Club, with the opening game slated for September 11, followed by matches on September 13, 15, 17, and 19.
This tour signifies a significant moment for Zimbabwean women’s cricket, building on their inaugural white-ball tour to Pakistan earlier this year. The last time Zimbabwe played at home was in September 2025 against the United Arab Emirates, with subsequent matches predominantly held abroad, including tours to Pakistan and New Zealand.
The upcoming series is pivotal for Zimbabwe as they aim to bounce back after a disappointing performance at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, narrowly missing out on qualifying for the main tournament. Zimbabwe Cricket Managing Director Givemore Makoni expressed excitement about hosting South Africa Women, highlighting the tour as a historic and thrilling event. He emphasized the value of competing against a top team like South Africa, providing Zimbabwean players with a valuable opportunity to test their skills against elite competition on home turf.
