A 23-year-old woman named Tanuja, a resident of Beerammanahalli in Gauribidanur, allegedly died by suicide after consuming poison on a roadside near Bengaluru. Tanuja was in a relationship with Ravindra from Yelahanka, Bengaluru, with whom she had a secret marriage at Dharmasthala temple a few months ago without his family’s knowledge. Following their marriage, Ravindra had shifted Tanuja to a rented house in Singapore Layout in Yelahanka.
Tanuja called Ravindra on Sunday night, asking him to come home, but he couldn’t immediately. Upset by his response, she informed him via message that she had consumed poison in Basavanahalli, Nelamangala. Upon receiving the message, Ravindra rushed to the location, found Tanuja, and took her to a nearby hospital, where she passed away before receiving treatment. Investigators suspect an argument between the couple may have preceded the incident, though the exact circumstances leading to the alleged suicide are still under investigation.
In a separate incident, a 25-year-old woman named Shwetha, a teacher in Bengaluru, committed suicide at her residence in Kamakshipalya police station limits. Shwetha, who had entered into a love marriage about four months ago, left a death note blaming her husband and sister-in-law for continuous harassment. The police found her hanging from a ceiling fan in her house, with the note stating that the alleged abuse led her to take her own life.
