Thirty early-career faculty members from various Indian universities and research institutes have gathered at Jamia Millia Islamia for a two-week program focusing on “Geopolitics in the 21st Century: Global Trends, Regional Dynamics, and Implications for India.” The initiative, supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), covers topics such as maritime geopolitics and geoeconomics.
The program, hosted by Professor Mujib Alam and Professor Sujata Ashwarya, aims to enhance participants’ understanding of geopolitics. Professor Zubair Meenai inaugurated the 12-day event, emphasizing the significance of such capacity-building efforts for early-career academics.
During the program, Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad shared insights on global geopolitics, drawing from his extensive diplomatic experience. The sessions, scheduled from May 4 to 16, 2026, will include discussions on various themes like energy politics, cultural diplomacy, and India’s strategic positioning in the global landscape.
The program also includes sessions on research methodology, academic writing, and the use of quantitative data in social science research. With over 25 resource persons from esteemed institutions participating, the event aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of geopolitics and its interdisciplinary relevance.
