Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee claimed that BJP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have a covert understanding with former Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury and Humayun Kabir, chief of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party. Speaking at a public gathering in Naoda, Murshidabad district, Banerjee emphasized that supporting Chowdhury or Kabir would essentially bolster the BJP.
Banerjee criticized the two leaders, alleging that Amit Shah’s office provides security to Humayun Kabir and Adhir Chowdhury. He challenged them to return the Central security forces and rely on state security if they have any conscience. Banerjee questioned the undisclosed arrangement between them, highlighting that their actions ultimately benefit the BJP.
Former Trinamool Congress member Humayun Kabir, who had briefly joined the BJP in 2019 before returning to Trinamool and becoming a party MLA, was also targeted by Banerjee. He accused Kabir of engaging in religion-based politics influenced by the BJP, particularly in advocating for a Babri Masjid in Murshidabad. Banerjee warned against supporting individuals like Kabir and Chowdhury, linking it to endorsing the BJP’s agenda.
Acknowledging internal conflicts in Murshidabad, Banerjee cautioned party members to adhere to discipline. He warned of strict action against those causing disorder within the party, emphasizing loyalty to the party above personal interests. Banerjee reiterated unity within the party, emphasizing that any dissent or disloyalty would not be tolerated.
