Actor Kamaal Rashid Khan, known as KRK, was arrested by Mumbai Police for firing two rounds while cleaning his gun at home to ensure its functionality. The police disclosed that KRK had obtained a gun license and firearm from Uttar Pradesh in 2005, keeping the weapon at his Mumbai residence for nearly twenty years. Following the Model Code of Conduct for Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, KRK deposited his firearm at Versova police station and retrieved it after the MCC was lifted.
The police reported that a few days after reclaiming the firearm, KRK accidentally fired two rounds while cleaning the gun at his residence. The shots were aimed at a tree on Lokhandwala Back Road but veered off course due to strong winds, hitting the nearby Nalanda building. Oshiwara police registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation from various perspectives, leading to KRK’s arrest in connection with the incident.
KRK, identified as the main suspect, confessed to firing the shots with his licensed firearm during police interrogation. The weapon has been confiscated, and legal procedures are underway. The incident occurred on January 18, with two bullets striking a residential building in Oshiwara, Andheri. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although the affected flats belonged to a writer-director and a model.
