Actor Sharib Hashmi marked the 9th anniversary of his 2017 film ‘Pullu’ by sharing unseen moments from the movie on social media. In a recent Instagram post, he highlighted that ‘Pullu’ was the first Hindi film to address the stigma around menstruation in India. Directed by Abhishek Saxena, the movie featured a talented cast including Jyotii Sethi, Nutan Surya, and others.

Sharib expressed his pride in being part of a groundbreaking project that tackled the issue of menstrual hygiene. ‘Pullu’ was produced by Pushpa Chaudhary, Dr. Anmol Kapoor, Kshitij Chaudhary, and Raman Kapoor under the banner of Kapoor Film Inc Kc Production Pvt. Ltd. Inspired by the life of social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, the film aimed to raise awareness about affordable sanitary pads for women in rural areas.

Apart from ‘Pullu’, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar also portrayed the story of Arunachalam Muruganantham in the movie “Pad Man,” released on February 9, 2018. Sharib Hashmi is now set to appear in the upcoming comedy film ‘Welcome To The Jungle,’ directed by Ahmed Khan. The movie, part of the ‘Welcome’ franchise, features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, and many others.
