Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is venturing into artificial intelligence-driven content creation with the launch of Bal Tanhaji, marking the first generative AI project from his newly established production company, Lens Vault Studios.
The announcement came through Variety’s exclusive report this week, positioning Devgn at the forefront of technological innovation in Indian cinema. Bal Tanhaji builds upon the universe of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, the 2020 historical action film where Devgn portrayed Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare.
Lens Vault Studios Pioneers AI Content Creation
Ajay Devgn chairs Lens Vault Studios alongside his nephew Danish Devgn, who serves as founder and CEO. The senior actor-producer emphasized the studio’s commitment to exploring emerging technologies while maintaining cinematic standards.

“Our focus is on discovering formats and mediums that are still largely untapped, while applying the discipline and scale of mainstream cinema. Bal Tanhaji represents the beginning of this journey into future-ready content creation,” Devgn stated.
Prismix Studios Powers Generative AI Technology
The project utilizes generative AI tools developed by Prismix Studios, Lens Vault’s in-house creative technology division. Danish Devgn outlined how the technology expands storytelling possibilities beyond traditional filmmaking constraints.
“Generative AI allows us to expand story universes in ways that were previously impossible, making them more immersive, scalable, and relevant for new-age audiences. This is the foundation on which Lens Vault Studios is being built,” Danish Devgn explained.
Building on Tanhaji’s Commercial Success
Bal Tanhaji does not replace or modify the original 2020 film directed by Om Raut. Instead, it creates complementary content designed for AI-enhanced media platforms, aligning with Lens Vault’s multi-format storytelling strategy.

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior achieved significant commercial success and received national recognition for its production quality and historical narrative. The film’s established fan base provides a foundation for the new AI-driven content to reach audiences.
The project represents Lens Vault Studios’ vision of developing content that extends beyond traditional theatrical releases, utilizing artificial intelligence to create immersive experiences across multiple platforms.
Devgn’s entry into AI-powered filmmaking signals a growing trend in Indian cinema, where established production houses are exploring technological innovations to create new audience experiences while leveraging existing intellectual properties.
