A case has emerged in Mumbai involving the alleged misuse of an Aadhaar card at a prestigious five-star hotel. The incident came to light when a woman accused her husband of using her identity to stay at the luxury property with another woman amid their ongoing divorce proceedings. The Mumbai Police have registered a case based on the woman’s complaint, citing identity theft, forgery, cheating, and criminal conspiracy.
The Bandra Police Station has filed a case against Deepak Goyal and an unidentified woman under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The complainant, Pallavi Deepak Goyal, revealed in the First Information Report (FIR) that she had married Deepak Goyal in 2013, but disputes led to pending divorce proceedings since February 20 in Surat.
Pallavi received shocking news on April 14 when her lawyer informed her that her husband was seen at Taj Lands End with another woman. Upon verification with the hotel, it was confirmed that a suite was booked in both their names from February 16 to February 18, despite Pallavi being in Vadodara at that time. Determined to uncover the truth, Pallavi visited the hotel to request CCTV footage and check-in details, but faced obstacles in obtaining the information directly.
The police investigation involves examining hotel records and identity documents used during check-in. The complainant was surprised to find that the Aadhaar card submitted in her name during check-in was allegedly fabricated. Authorities suspect the use of forged identity documents to facilitate the hotel stay and are scrutinizing CCTV footage and digital records to understand how the fake Aadhaar card was accepted.
