Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, inaugurated the Jayaprakash Narayan Public Library in Delhi, a modern multimedia and digital knowledge center developed by the New Delhi Municipal Council. The library, spread over three floors, was opened with the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, NDMC officials, and emphasized the crucial role of knowledge in national progress.
Addressing the attendees, Amit Shah highlighted the significance of the library’s opening for the national capital, stressing the transformative power of reading in shaping individuals and the nation. He called for the integration of public libraries into a common network and connecting them with schools to enhance accessibility.
Shah urged the youth to embrace reading, citing libraries as pivotal in personal growth and intellectual development. He shared his own experience, emphasizing the profound impact libraries had on his life, underscoring that knowledge and wisdom are fundamental to nation-building activities.
The Home Minister emphasized that libraries are essential for nurturing knowledge and wisdom, crucial for the practical application of learning. He encouraged librarians to engage with educational institutions and motivate students to utilize library resources, advocating for reading to become a daily habit for the youth.
Highlighting the amenities of the newly inaugurated library, Shah mentioned its vast collection of over 30,000 books, dedicated spaces for various readers, a modern auditorium, research center, children’s zone, and e-library with access to a vast digital book collection. He also stressed the importance of engaging with Indian literary works to understand the country’s heritage fully.
