Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah commended the century-long heritage of Gita Press and its monthly publication “Kalyan” during the release event of the centenary edition at Gita Bhawan in Rishikesh. Shah highlighted the significance of Indian culture in national policies under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, aligning with Gita Press’s timeless mission. He honored Hanuman Prasad Poddar, the founder of Gita Press, for his lifelong dedication to strengthening Sanatan dharma.
HM Shah emphasized that Gita Press, operating on a non-profit basis, focuses on shaping and nurturing generations rather than financial gains. He lauded Kalyan for its advertisement-free approach since 1926, reaching millions with affordable spiritual literature for character and nation-building. Shah recalled key milestones in Kalyan’s history, including issues dedicated to Lord Krishna, Yoga, women, and Indian cultural principles post-independence.
Acknowledging Kalyan’s role in preserving Indian culture, Shah praised the magazine for its efforts in immortalizing Indian traditions through words and knowledge. He linked the event to broader cultural revival achievements under PM Modi, such as the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, and repatriation of stolen idols. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present at the ceremony, where Shah highlighted the enduring devotion and national consciousness reflected in the centenary edition of Kalyan.
