Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to kick off the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme-2’ near the India-Pakistan border region close to Bikaner. This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure and connectivity in crucial border areas, with 184 villages in Rajasthan’s border districts like Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Sri Ganganagar receiving priority development. The focus will be on improving road connectivity, 4G mobile networks, electricity, and television access in these villages.
Shah will visit the BSF Border Outpost at Sanchu near the India-Pakistan border, where he will engage with BSF personnel and inaugurate welfare schemes for security forces. Following this, he will chair a high-level security review meeting in Bikaner at 2:00 p.m., attended by officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Rajasthan government, the BSF, and the District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from the five border districts.
The Home Minister’s two-day visit to Bikaner focuses on border security and rural infrastructure development. Shah arrived at Nal Air Force Station late Monday night and was welcomed by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. Emphasizing simplicity and minimal protocol, Shah’s visit featured a relatively limited VVIP convoy, reflecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s approach.
Scheduled for Tuesday, the launch of the ‘Vibrant Villages Programme-2’ near the India-Pakistan border aims to enhance infrastructure and connectivity in strategically vital border villages. Targeting 184 villages across Rajasthan, particularly in Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Sri Ganganagar districts, the program will prioritize road connectivity, 4G mobile networks, electricity, and television access in these remote areas.
After the launch, Shah will visit the Sanchu Border Post to interact with BSF and security personnel, review security arrangements, and observe the India-Pakistan border from a watchtower. The post, located approximately five kilometers from the international border, holds historical significance due to its role in the 1965 and 1971 India-Pakistan wars, where Indian forces regained control from Pakistani occupation.
Various BJP leaders and public representatives welcomed the Home Minister at Nal Airport, including BJP State President Madan Rathore, Minister-in-Charge Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Cabinet Minister Sumit Godara, and other senior party leaders. Senior administrative and police officials were also present to oversee arrangements, highlighting the visit’s importance for both border security and infrastructure development in frontier regions.
