Andhra Pradesh is fast-tracking its Integrated Clean Energy Policy to attract investments totaling ₹10 lakh crore by 2029, focusing on renewable energy, storage, green hydrogen, transmission, and manufacturing sectors. A significant step in this direction is the upcoming commissioning of 600 MW solar power projects in YSR Kadapa district. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting the state’s commitment to becoming India’s clean energy hub.
State Minister Nara Lokesh will inaugurate SAEL Solar MHP1 and SAEL Solar MHP2, marking the successful completion of 600 MW solar power projects within a record 11 months. These projects underscore Andhra Pradesh’s reputation as a rapidly advancing clean energy destination in India. With an investment of nearly ₹3,000 crore, the integrated solar facility covers over 2,400 acres and is a significant renewable energy investment in the state.
The two 300 MW projects, MHP1 and MHP2, began commercial operations earlier this year, contributing clean energy to the national grid through a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with Solar Energy Corporation of India. By deploying advanced TOPCon bifacial solar modules, the projects are estimated to prevent around 11 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. Moreover, the projects have created substantial local economic impact and provided employment opportunities for over 1,000 workers during construction, benefiting local communities.
