Chelsea has officially signed Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon on a contract that extends until 2034. Quenda, a highly regarded talent in European football, played a crucial role in Sporting’s victory in the Portuguese league and cup last year. He was honored as the Primeira Liga Young Player of the Season in 2025 and has been a consistent performer for Sporting in various positions.
The 19-year-old Quenda expressed his excitement about joining Chelsea, emphasizing his dedication to hard work and team success. He holds the record as Sporting’s youngest goal scorer in his debut season and is also the youngest Portuguese player to score in the UEFA Champions League. Quenda has been actively involved with the Portugal Under-21 team and was recognized in the Team of the Tournament at the 2025 European Championships.
In addition to Quenda, Chelsea also secured Jesse Derry with a new contract until 2032. Derry, who made his senior debut in the FA Cup fourth-round match against Hull City, expressed his delight in committing his future to Chelsea.
