Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu criticized the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) workers for attempting to attack a Telugu media outlet’s office in Hyderabad. He labeled this incident as a direct assault on media freedom. The attack was reportedly in response to the media outlet questioning the stance of former Chief Minister and YSRCP Chief Jagan Mohan Reddy on Amaravati.
Chandrababu Naidu expressed disappointment over the YSRCP’s alleged misuse of its media platforms to make baseless accusations and use abusive language against independent media organizations. Despite facing challenges during the previous YSRCP government’s tenure, the regional media channel continued its operations without fear, according to Naidu. He criticized the involvement of sitting MLAs, former Ministers, and mobs in targeting the media office, calling it a reflection of the YSRCP’s disorderly behavior.
The Chief Minister commended the Managing Director of the regional media outlet, Vemuri Radhakrishna, for fearlessly managing the newspaper and channel for decades despite facing legal issues, attacks, and pressure. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized that intimidating the media through attacks, protests, and threats has no place in a democratic society. He accused the YSRCP of engaging in diversionary politics instead of addressing the editorial queries about alleged conspiracies against Amaravati.
