Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Pawan Kalyan, praised the establishment of the South Coast Railway Zone with its headquarters in Visakhapatnam. The new zone, effective from June 1, 2026, is expected to boost regional development and create opportunities for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Pawan Kalyan acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in realizing this development. The restructuring includes the formation of the Visakhapatnam division and the creation of a new Rayagada division under the East Coast Railway. This decision is seen as a progressive step towards strengthening Andhra Pradesh’s railway network and fostering growth in the region.
Telugu Desam Party’s state president, Palla Srinivasa Rao, also lauded the gazette notification, considering it a historic achievement for North Andhra. He commended Chief Minister Naidu’s persistence in ensuring the fulfillment of commitments under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Rao highlighted the long-standing advocacy for the Visakha Railway Zone and credited the recent progress to the collaborative efforts of regional leadership and the support from the central government.
