The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the establishment of AP Futuristic Innovation and Research in Science and Technology (AP FIRST) in Tirupati. This initiative, supported by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, aims to create the largest research center in the region. AP FIRST will be a collaboration between Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Tirupati.
Chief Minister Naidu emphasized the importance of developing AP FIRST as a prestigious institution that caters to the future needs of the state’s youth. He urged officials to engage with the Central government to ensure effective management of the research center. Additionally, Naidu highlighted the significance of integrating emerging technologies into academic curricula and fostering collaborations with universities and leading companies across sectors.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister stressed the need to explore the potential of drones in various sectors like agriculture and medical emergencies. He called for the establishment of a Drone Traffic Control Management System and emphasized the state government’s commitment to supporting the younger generation’s future through skill development and innovation. Naidu also outlined plans to boost sectors such as aerospace, defense, AI, healthcare, and green energy to drive the state’s overall development.
Aerospace and Defence Advisor Satish Reddy, IT–Digital Transformation Advisor Amit Duggar, and other officials participated in discussions regarding the establishment and strategic direction of AP FIRST in Tirupati.
