Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East Policy’ for elevating the state from a remote border region to a crucial gateway to Southeast Asia. This policy has positioned Arunachal Pradesh at the core of India’s connectivity, development, and geopolitical strategy for the eastern region.
Khandu highlighted the state’s international significance due to its borders with Tibet, Bhutan, and Myanmar, spanning over 1,080 km. He credited PM Modi’s leadership for integrating Arunachal Pradesh into India’s strategic and developmental vision, marking a significant shift from past neglect to active participation in the nation’s progress.
The Chief Minister lauded PM Modi’s governance, reforms, and focus on citizen welfare, describing it as a period of remarkable transformation for Arunachal Pradesh and the entire Northeast region. He emphasized the substantial growth in connectivity infrastructure, with the state now boasting over 4,060 km of National Highways compared to less than 1,000 km before 2014.
Khandu also highlighted key infrastructure projects like the Trans-Arunachal Highway and Bogibeel Bridge, which have enhanced connectivity to remote areas and bolstered national security. He praised the improved air connectivity and the Central government’s initiative to develop Buddhist Circuits in the Northeast, aiming to preserve cultural heritage and attract visitors.
