Assam BJP MLA Rishiraj Hazarika affirmed the party’s dedication to ensuring women’s safety and empowerment. He highlighted the government’s efforts under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, mentioning the successful introduction of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the Assembly. Hazarika, re-elected from the Ranganadi constituency, reiterated the BJP’s focus on women’s welfare and security.
The legislator criticized the Congress for opposing measures aimed at safeguarding women’s rights during Assembly discussions. Hazarika accused the Congress of hindering women’s safety initiatives and property rights for women. He assured that the BJP government, led by Chief Minister Sarma, would prioritize women’s security and rights in Assam.
The Assam Assembly recently debated the UCC proposal, with the BJP advocating it as a progressive step and the opposition expressing concerns about its impact on personal laws and minority communities.
