Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a significant 86.5% decrease in crimes against women since his government took office. Emphasizing the government’s commitment to women’s safety, Sarma highlighted ongoing efforts to eradicate such crimes completely.
Under Sarma’s leadership, the state has witnessed a substantial reduction in crimes against women, thanks to enhanced law enforcement and targeted interventions. Assam Police has intensified its efforts to combat crimes against women through prompt investigations, increased patrols, and awareness campaigns to encourage reporting of offenses. The government has also implemented various initiatives, such as bolstering women police stations and utilizing technology for better monitoring, to enhance women’s safety and security.
While acknowledging the progress made, Sarma reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe environment for women.
