Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reassured the public on Wednesday that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in the state. Sarma emphasized that fuel availability is sufficient and urged citizens not to engage in panic-buying. He mentioned that the Government of India has also confirmed the uninterrupted supply of fuel nationwide during an all-party meeting.
Officials have stated that the supply chains for petroleum products in Assam and the Northeast are stable, with oil companies maintaining regular distribution without any disruptions. Despite concerns in certain areas leading to increased demand at petrol pumps, authorities have affirmed that there are no issues with the supply logistics. Sarma, while closely monitoring the situation, is working with oil marketing companies to ensure continuous fuel availability across Assam.
The Chief Minister cautioned against unnecessary fuel stocking, as it could lead to artificial scarcity in the market. He appealed to the public to act responsibly, advising against rushing to fuel stations or hoarding petrol and diesel. Sarma reiterated that panic buying might strain local supply temporarily, although there is an ample stock at the macro level. He urged people to stay calm, avoid spreading rumors, and assured them that there is no need to worry about fuel availability in the state.
