Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized the Congress for the rejection of its candidate’s nomination while unveiling development promises and welfare measures before the elections. Sarma, in response to the controversy, mocked the opposition, suggesting they could contest elections in Pakistan if unhappy, sparking a political dispute in the state.
The Election Commission recently dismissed the nominations of three Congress candidates during scrutiny. Sarma expressed his desire to avoid rejecting any candidate’s nomination during the ongoing election process. However, he emphasized that applications would be canceled if improperly filed according to the rules.
Sarma clarified that the scrutiny of nomination papers is a legal and procedural process, with authorities strictly following the Election Commission’s guidelines. He emphasized the government’s commitment to infrastructure expansion, announcing plans for a new flyover in Bhawanipur to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance connectivity in the area.
In a move to support unemployed youth, the Chief Minister pledged financial aid of Rs 2 lakh to eligible young individuals to assist in their livelihoods and promote self-reliance. Sarma reaffirmed the government’s dedication to development and governance, urging the public to back the party in the upcoming elections.
