Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi to talk about enhancing sports infrastructure and welfare for workers in the state. The meeting, which lasted over an hour, focused on boosting Assam’s sports ecosystem and improving conditions for laborers. Sarma later shared details on social media platform X, emphasizing the BJP’s principle of ‘Sewa First.’

The discussions revolved around strengthening sports infrastructure, providing better opportunities for athletes, and enhancing welfare measures for workers in Assam. Sarma also extended birthday wishes to Mandaviya and requested continued support from the Centre to establish Assam as a prominent sports hub in India. The meeting is significant as the Assam government has been investing in sports infrastructure and hosting various national and international events.

The state administration’s efforts have been directed towards developing modern sports facilities, nurturing young talent, and promoting grassroots sports development to position Assam as a top sports destination in the Northeast and the country. The government has stressed that sports development and youth engagement are crucial for Assam’s long-term growth and development agenda.
