Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a partnership between Mizoram and the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) to provide cashless cancer treatment for Mizoram patients at ACCF’s hospitals in Assam under the Mizoram Universal Healthcare Scheme (MUHCS).
This collaboration marks a significant step in Assam’s development as a regional healthcare center, following similar agreements with Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. Chief Minister Sarma highlighted that this partnership will enhance access to quality and affordable cancer care for people in the Northeast.
Patients from Mizoram can now access cashless treatment at Assam Cancer Care Foundation hospitals under MUHCS, while those from Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland will continue to receive treatment under their respective state health insurance schemes.
The Assam Cancer Care Foundation, a joint initiative of the Assam government and Tata Trusts, is expanding specialized oncology services across the state to alleviate the need for patients to travel to major cities for advanced cancer treatment.
This interstate collaboration is expected to enhance access to specialized oncology care for patients from neighboring states and solidify Assam’s position as a hub for advanced healthcare services in the Northeast.
