An Assam Rifles Company Operating Base (COB) in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district was attacked by armed insurgents, leading to a fierce exchange of fire. The COB at Ranglum village faced fire from multiple directions, near the India-Myanmar border. Assam Rifles troops responded effectively, with no injuries or fatalities reported.
Additional forces have been deployed in the area, and a counter-insurgency operation is ongoing. The region has been cordoned off, and efforts are being intensified to neutralize the insurgents. Police teams have also been dispatched to gather more information from the border areas.
The identity of the militant group responsible for the attack is yet to be confirmed. Arunachal Pradesh shares a vulnerable 520-km unfenced border with Myanmar, making it susceptible to cross-border insurgent activities. Security agencies recalled previous incidents where attacks were thwarted due to prompt responses by security forces.
Assam Rifles has heightened counter-insurgency operations, utilizing modern surveillance assets and intelligence-based teams. Recent successful operations in various districts have led to the neutralization of insurgents and the recovery of weapons. These actions have consistently prevented insurgent activities and boosted the morale of security forces in the region.
