Abhijit Majumdar, the Assam Trinamool Congress Chief, resigned from the party, claiming it has become “Trinamool Muslim Congress” with no space for Hindus like him. Majumdar, a longstanding member, expressed that no “Hindu-minded person” can be part of the party, now labeled as “Trinamool Muslim Congress.”
He highlighted the party’s shift and mentioned instances like the recent rape and murder case in Kolkata as contributing to the party’s electoral losses. Majumdar also pointed out the entry of Sherman Ali Ahmed, the sole Trinamool Congress MLA in Assam, just before the state elections, emphasizing his victory in an area with a significant Bangladeshi Muslim population.
Majumdar accused the party leadership of causing division in West Bengal through community polarization and alleged a similar strategy in Assam using Muslims. He criticized the party’s approach, stating that no Trinamool Congress members are present at the party office in Assam, and emphasized his role in the party’s outreach efforts.
