Lokayukta police in Indore conducted a raid on the premises of Laxminarayan Kandwal, a Joint Director in the Women and Child Development Department, uncovering assets valued at approximately Rs 9.5 crore allegedly belonging to him and his family. The raid was prompted by a complaint accusing Kandwal of amassing assets beyond his known income sources. Searches were simultaneously carried out at various locations connected to the officer in Indore and nearby areas.
Following a complaint alleging possession of disproportionate assets, a case was registered against Kandwal, who has been in government service since 1996. Despite earning an estimated salary of about Rs 2.5 crore over nearly three decades, assets totaling around Rs 9.5 crore have been identified during the raids. The discovered properties include a multi-storey building, two plots in Indore city, and 11 plots in villages near the Pithampur industrial area, along with documents related to investments and financial assets.
The assessment of movable and immovable properties is ongoing, with the total asset value expected to rise after detailed verification. Lokayukta police are scrutinizing financial transactions and records associated with properties and businesses linked to Kandwal’s family members to determine the funding sources. A case has been filed against Kandwal under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and further investigations are in progress to uncover more details from the seized documents and financial records.
