Jharkhand’s Leader of the Opposition, Babulal Marandi, slammed the Hemant Soren-led government, alleging a breakdown in law and order in the state. Speaking at a press conference in Dhanbad, Marandi accused the government of protecting criminals and mafias.
He claimed that the decline in law and order was not accidental but a deliberate strategy, causing fear among traders and citizens due to an alleged nexus involving criminals, terrorists, and the police in Dhanbad. Marandi called for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe to uncover this alleged nexus, questioning the appointment of tainted officers in crucial positions.
Expressing worry over the situation in Dhanbad, Marandi highlighted a power struggle between uniformed and non-uniformed criminals, with the government remaining passive. He also raised concerns about security and terrorism, alleging the illegal supply of weapons from Pakistan to Dhanbad through Punjab and the protection given to individuals involved in criminal activities.
Marandi emphasized the need for NIA intervention, citing the complexity of the issue beyond the state government’s capacity. He criticized the government for negligence in handling corruption cases, including the alleged liquor scam where accused individuals obtained default bail due to police delays in filing charge sheets.
