Mosaddek Hossain shone with an unbeaten 86 runs in his return to international cricket, while Nahid Rana’s 4 for 41 helped Bangladesh secure an 86-run victory over Australia in the opening ODI in Dhaka. This win marked Bangladesh’s first 50-over victory against Australia since 2005.

Australia, chasing 285 runs, struggled at 191 for 9 when rain interrupted play, leading to Bangladesh’s win via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. Cameron Green’s unbeaten 52 was not enough as wickets fell consistently for Australia.

Mosaddek’s stellar performance, scoring 86 runs and taking 2 wickets, and Rana’s impressive 4 for 41 bowling spell were instrumental in Bangladesh’s victory. Australia’s poor fielding, dropping four catches, added to their woes.

After opting to field first, Australia had a decent start but failed to contain Bangladesh’s batsmen. Mosaddek’s innings, including innovative shots, guided Bangladesh to a competitive total of 284 for 8.

Australia’s chase faltered early, with Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman rattling their top order. Despite Green’s fifty, Australia succumbed to Bangladesh’s bowling attack, ultimately losing by 86 runs.
